Our Mission

We are dedicated to promoting the legacy of the brave men of color of the 54th Regiment who served country and commonwealth in the US Army during the Civil War to preserve the Union and make the ideal of American liberty a reality for all. We also work to communicate the story of the Regiment as an exceptional part of Boston’s African American history and to remain a source of pride for the Hyde Park/Readville neighborhood – the site of Camp Meigs and the Regiment’s spiritual home.
